Remember, when chasing a balloon wear your seat belt. It makes it
harder for the aliens
to snatch you from your vehicle!

Next Safety Seminar March 13, 2010
The LTA Colorado Safety Seminar Committee would like to invite you to register early for next year's spring seminar. The 2010 seminar will again be held at the University of Denver on Saturday, March 13th, 2010. Our theme this year
is titled, "20/10: A Sharper Focus on Safety."
The following speakers have now been confirmed to speak (substitutions have recently been made due to scheduling conflicts of previously invited speakers. We apologize for the changes.):
- Mike Cetinich, Product Manager Flight Planning, Weather and NOTAM Services for Jeppesen
- Dr. Tom McConnell, M.D., presenting balloon accidents from his newly published book, "Balloon Safety Seminars"
- Mark Roberson, General Manager for Aerophile Orlando, LLC (which operates the tethered gas balloon over Disney World) and the FAA Designated Examiner for FL, presenting on properly executing BFRs
- Rob Soluren, Jr. - FAA Safety Inspector, Flight Standards Service, Northwest Mountain Region
- Scott McClinton, President of SkyCab Balloon Promotions of Louisville, KY, presenting on Pilot Decision Making and the proper documentation for all aspects of ballooning, including passenger and crew waivers
- And finally our keynote speaker in honor of the Disney/Pixar movie UP:
John Ninomiya, the most experienced cluster balloonist flying today. He presented back in 2003, but has had dozons of flights since that time. We look forward to and welcome his return to Denver.
We're also pulling together a hands-on presentation on emergency procedures: "How to shut-off the fuel system
on a balloon system that's different from yours." If a fellow pilot had an emergency and you were the first to their basket, would you know how to shut their system off?
We recognize that it's going to be very difficult to top last year's seminar. However, we believe we're off to a great start for next year! Please visit http://www.ltasafetyseminar.org for the latest information and to confirm your attendance to this year’s seminar. The cost is the same as last year at $65/pilot and $45/crew.
We look forward to seeing you at DU on March 13th, 2010!
